ILB Called To Yacht Aground In Harbour
On Sunday afternoon (27 August) Whitby RNLI were paged after a yacht ran aground in the harbour.
The inshore lifeboat was launched and quickly reached the small yacht which was near the west pier.
The volunteer crew attached a tow rope and towed the yacht to safety, it was then able to head out to sea under its own steam.
Helm Jonathan Marr said: 'This was a relatively straight forward rescue, as soon as the incident was reported we were able to quickly launch and carry out a tow.'
If you see someone in trouble in or near the water you can alert the coastguard by calling 999.
